What are BCI Chapters?

BCI Chapters have been established in countries or regions where there is a large community of BCI members. The Chapters have locally elected officers who represent the BCI in their region.

Introduction

All BCI Chapters are led by an elected voluntary board. The current Nordic Chapter Board is as follows:

Biographies of Board members are below:

Faruque Sayed, MBCI Chapter Leader and Forum Leader, Denmark

Faruque has an extensive background in Business Management, Information Security Management (covering all aspects from strategic leadership, systems technical solutions to end-user awareness), Business and IT related Project Management and Business Continuity Management covering all its lifecycles. His experiences cover tasks within finance, productions, public health, tele, consumer goods, services and entertainment sectors. He holds certifications as Lead Auditor BS25999, CGEIT, CRISC, CISM, CISA and MBCI.

As Director for Information Protection and Business Resilience with Team Consultants Denmark (2 years), and previously Director for KPMG's Information Risk Management, Denmark (7 years) and Senior Manager with PWC (6 years), Denmark, Faruque's main areas of responsibilities have included ICT and business continuity management, information risk management, information security management, information systems audit (13 years) and data privacy and compliance. He has previously worked with physical disaster recovery processes, technical risk management, technical security implementation, system management controls, user training, compliance management and awareness for 27 years.

Faruque has been Danish Chapter Chairperson for ISF (Information Security Forum) for six years, Manager-in-Charge for Instituttet for Datasikkerhed (IfD - Danish Institute for IT Security) for six years. He has also worked with standards related to pay card systems with the European Standardisation Committee (CEN/Technical Committee) for three years. Faruque has also been a member of the Danish National Advisory Council for Information Protection and Data Privacy for seven years and Danish Media Council (EU-sponsored) for four years.

Faruque teaches Master Degree students in Business Continuity Management, Information Systems Audit and Accounting Information Systems (MAC) at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, University of Aarhus. Faruque’s language proficiencies cover (native or bilingual level) English, Danish and Bengali; (elementary level) Scandinavian languages (Norwegian and Swedish), Hindi, Urdu and German.

Presently Faruque is Chapter Leader for the BCI Nordic Chapter and actively involves himself with the Institute’s activities, including stream leadership at the BCI World Conference and other relevant tasks.

Barbro Thöyrä MBCI, Forum Leader, Sweden

Barbro Thöyrä is the Forum Leader, Sweden for the BCI Nordic Chapter.
Barbro achieved certification as CBCP in 1996, ISO 28000 and ISO 22301 Master in 2013/14, MBCI since March 2014, ISO 24762 ICT Disaster Recovery Manager and Certified PECB Trainer as well as Approved BCI Instructor.

Barbro is currently a Business Continuity Management (BCM) consultant within CeBeLOT AB based in Stockholm.

Barbro’s experience includes being responsible for business continuity service development, marketing and supply in industries. Barbro worked with BCMS as a subject matter expert to external and internal clients worldwide. The projects contained telecom systems, IT, customer care, logistics, buildings, finance, retail, billing systems etc. for clients from a range of financial, government and commercial industries. Barbro has also worked as a trainer and has written a consultant manual for BCMS consultants.

Angélica Olofsson MBCI, webmaster

Angélica Olofsson is the Webmaster for the BCI Nordic Chapter and has been a BCI member since 2008.

Angélica has long experience from both operational and strategic work that, apart from BCM, includes product and channel management/development/communication, project management, governance etc.

She has been a senior business continuity management officer for an international bank for more than 5 years complying with various regulatory obligations and has a comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices. She then decided to do a Masters in societal risk management and became a consultant in 2012, supporting authorities and organisations from different sectors in the world of BCM. She is currently working for Transcendent Group that specializes in governance, risk and compliance.

Angélica is a responsive and reliable leader, who has managed live incidents, coordinated annual recovery tests, and facilitated scenario based testing and reported to BoD. She has been active in the work with the Swedish Standard (SS) 22304:2014 (a guideline to ISO 22301).

Keith Roberts MBCI, Treasurer

Keith Roberts is the Treasurer of the BCI Nordic Chapter and has been so since the start.

Keith works as a Business Development Manager at Oracle and is a Business Continuity Certified Consultant, ITIL V3 Certified and an elected Member of the Danish Engineering Society.

 

 

 

Nils Gunnar Aakvik MBCI¸ Forum Leader Norway

Nils Gunnar Aakvik is the Forum Leader Norway for the BCI Nordic chapter and is the general manager at iChange.

 

 

 

 

 

Tomas Hellum MBCI, Secretary

Tomas Thobias Hellum is the secretary for the BCI Scandinavia Chapter. Tomas has previously been the Danish chapter representative. Tomas is advising and helping clients with GRC processes mainly in the Financial sector. He has more than 10 years’ experience with all BCM related processes from BIA to tests. Tomas has been an independent consultant for almost 10 years, before that working for PwC.

Tomas holds a Professional level of membership from Institute of operational risk, assist ISACA international with books and audit templates as a Subject Matter Expert, latest with the book “Risk scenarios and Cobit 5 for Risk”. Tomas is also part of the SC27 working with like ISO27001/2 and has been part of the work with ISO27001/2 2013 release.
